Swiss stocks available in the Scalable Broker from May

Munich, 25.04.2025: Clients at Scalable Capital can invest in Swiss stocks from Friday, May 2, 2025. Trading takes place via the European Investor Exchange and gettex as well as Xetra. After more than five years of suspension, Swiss stocks will be tradable on EU stock exchanges again. 1

With a market capitalisation of around 1.6 trillion euros, the Swiss stock market has a similar size to Germany’s. The largest stocks are the food company Nestlé and the pharmaceutical companies Roche and Novartis. “The Swiss stock exchange has much more to offer than the three big dividend aristocrats,” emphasises Christian Röhl, Chief Economist at Scalable Capital: “In addition to many financial stocks and special stocks such as mountain railways, there are numerous highly specialised market and technology leaders – such as the hearing aid manufacturer Sonova, the dental technician Straumann or the sanitary product manufacturer Geberit.”

From 2019, EU trading venues were required to receive authorisation for trading the stock of Swiss companies. This was intended as a protective measure, as the EU no longer recognised Switzerland's stock exchange regulation as equivalent at the time. As a result, investors on EU stock exchanges were only able to invest indirectly in Swiss shares via certificates representing shares such as American Depository Receipts (ADRs) or ETFs or had to resort to over-the-counter trading. This regulation has now been revoked with effect from 1 May 2025.

Scalable Capital's approach is to give investors access to the full potential of investing on stock exchanges and beyond. For example, suitable investors will soon be able to invest in a BlackRock private equity fund.
